Christian Falsnaes artistic practice is manifold. He does collages, drawings, installations, performances and videos. The relation between art and audience plays a central role as he works with the collective human body as his main material, and creates situations that involve the viewer as an active part of his art. Hereby his works furthermore addresses authority, social codes and rituals as well as the role of the artist.

For his exhibition at the Kurznsthalle Bregenz, Falsnaes shows two works: The large scale wall print Rise (2014) created specifically for this exhibition and the video Influence (2012) that will be screened during the exhibition.

Rise (2014) consist of a series of video stills showing Falsnaes interacting with an audience as well as a collage with examples of crowd behaviour and public situations. The stills depict Falsnaes in an authoritarian gesture and the audience as reacting to his demands. The collage contains sentences, photos and fragments of paintings and drawings that seems to be partly cut out, covered and erased.

In the video piece Influence (2012), Falsnaes leads an unprepared and initially reluctant audience through a collective choreography that transforms the situation into a party-like display of excessive joyful behaviour.

Christian Falsnaes lives and works in Berlin. His works has recently been shown  at Art Basel Statements, KW Institute of Contemporary Art, Akademie der Künste, Berlin, Crac Alsace, Altkirch and Bonner Kunstverein and PSM, Berlin.
