"The Muse"
Feather drawing
112,5 x 200 cm
year 2012

To paraphrase the saying of a river: "No man enters the same city twice...". City is constantly changing but just like in The Ship of Theseus the system manages to survive. I try to keep my drawings in a state of endless digression. Multiple images are fighting to emerge onto the surface, but I try to keep the drawing at the point of more possible outcomes of this fight.

Spider web always stops my walk and makes me observe it closely. It is incredibly fragile but as a system powerful and functional. The System with the Bug follows a certain pattern of growth, where different patterns grow into one and support each other. The structure is elastic but fragile at the same time. Often a main structure in my drawings is broken and bypassed, but this is what nature does too. When the river's way is closed it finds another. When one sense of animal is broken others are more developed, when brain is damaged electrical impulses find another way to connect... Secondary element suddenly becomes constructive element that holds structure together. My interest is not merely in coping shapes of nature but rather to try to create in a way like nature creates.

Drawings are made on a catalog photographs about skating in Kampala, sometimes following shape but sometimes denying it completely in order to create some another story. Human figure is present but transparent and illusive. Is it a ghost from a parallel world? Undefined post-apocalyptic environment equally familiar and abstract to us all. Original subtitles under the drawing are kept, more like a forensic evidence of once, somewhere existing reality, but information is incomplete.
